Launching S.S. Santiago Iglesias, Fairfield, MD; March 30, 1943. In 2023, a contemporary pro-statehood organization in PR shared the story of the liberty ship commissioned in SIP’s honor after his death.
In 1945, the S.S. Santiago Iglesias transported cattle to Poland from the Heifer International organization to restock the herds decimated in WW II.
